I own 2 kakarikis, female and male (female shown in my profile picture!) but my male seems to have very ugly, to say feathers. He was like this ever since I purchased him and I think he might be moulting. They are about 1 year old do kakarikis moult when they are 1 year old or if not is there anything that helps them grow and maintain better plumage (I give them moultone once a week).

The only real way to ensure good plumage is through diet. If they’re eating a healthy diet, they’ll look good in no time (well, some time; they’ll need to moult first).

If he's healthy and on a good diet, he'll look better after his first molt. It will probably be soon, but they don't really molt on a schedule, at least for the first year or two in a new home.

Seed in the morning, greens and fruit in the afternoon. He is starting to improve though, looking slighlty better.
