Aww, what a cool bird! We get hawks and peregrine falcons over here but they're so fast that it's hard to get a good picture of them.

I love vultures too. I live in a small town and our water tower is a favorite morning and evening roost.

I always joke with my husband that we live in a dying town.

This is just a small sample. Usually there are 2 tob3 times that many.

At a bird show once, they had a 'pet' vulture... was SO FUNNY when it hopped along to follow them. Awesome and pretty, up close!

@Pat H . We have lots of fields, lots of forests, a lake, and several state highways (2 lanes and 1 4 lane.) Within a 10 mile radius, and a very high wild animal population. So much road kill. It is a haven for scavengers.

There are as many as 50-75 vultures first thing in the morning shortly after sun-up and just before sundown.

UNBELIEVEABLE! There HAS to be alot of wildlife to support that many!

While we do have our share of vultures, I like it during hunting season-- a farm within viewing distance of the road puts out the deer remains/ bones and the Eagles gather to feed, sometimes a dozen or so...

There is always roadkill. Racoon, skunk, squirrels, rabbits, deer, foxes, coyotes, opossum, wild turkey etc.

My favorite bird of all!!!

Most of them seem much more shy and gentle than black vultures, even though they are bigger! They just have a curious, gentle air about them, and a big loping kind of hop. So beautiful to watch in the air, too, I love them so much!

It was interesting, cleaning that up, nothing but feathers, and a skeleton, completely cleaned carcass, even the head was a shell, nothing but a skull and beak, everything gone..I thought it was cool, its natural,,
