Our "Mayor of the Avenue" award is presented to a member who exhibits the qualities that distinguish them to be an upstanding credit to the Avenue, a loving, informed, conscientious and caring bird parront and an all around good neighbor.
I am happy to announce that greys4u is July's Mayor of the Month.
I enjoyed reading your interview, and am sure that everyone else will as well!
1. What kind of birds do you have (age, species and names)?
Valentine, Sun Conure, 8 years young.
2. What got you interested in birds?
I rec'd a hand drawn pic of a group of cartoon animals sitting around a table. There is a cat reading a newspaper with a dog looking over her shoulder, a fishbowl with the fish reading the newspaper and a parrot doing a crossword puzzle holding a pencil. I kept looking at the parrot and wondering more about them.
3. What have your birds brought to your life?
Joy.
4. What have you learned from sharing your life with your birds?
Patience, lots of patience.
5. What's one birdie memory that will stay with you forever?
Chewing my shirts!!
6. Where is your birds main living area?
The living room next to my recliner.
7. Did you change things in your home to accommodate your birds and if so what kinds of things did you change?
Oh yes, after reading the do's and dont's everything was tossed, looked like I was having a yard sale.
8. Are you involved in any kind of bird related group or activities?
Just AA.
9. What is the one luxury item you would love to have for your bird(s)?
An indoor aviary.
10. Is there any bird that you dream of owning and if so why?
Not really.
11. Describe a typical day with you at home with your birds.
I work from home so she is playing in and out of her cage most of the day, when she is in the office with me she loves to explore, sit in her Wingdow and look at whats going on outside.
12. What have you learned about owning birds that you would like to share?
I have learned to take their feelings into consideration. Becoming a part of their lives and to love them unconditionally.
13. If you knew then what you know now about birds, what would you do differently?
Nothing.
14. What other hobbies do you have?
Photography, mostly jewelry, nature, people, etc.
15. Anything else you would like to share?
That all birds are different and have their own personalities, we just have to adjust to them and hold on for the ride.
