Yeah, at the beginning I thought he was angry at it, but I can see he really thinks this is fun. When he is done he goes and chews at the ring with a great sense of delight

Right! I feel the same way. Though Picard will keep going for the ball again and again and appears to be getting some sort of joy...rage joy?? Pi seems to always pushes his bell/ball around with this cautious acceptance and understanding.. like, "yeah, silly human I get it.. " The Neptune will test his bell/ball...freak out fly away and hide in a corner.. so I sincerely think Neptune gets distressed.

They are surely all unique!
