My female lovebird Royal is laying unfertilized eggs and Jade thinks he’s the daddy. They have neighboring cages, so it’s not like he can get to her. But on the other hand how do I deal with the territorial behavior from him? I’ve been snagged twice already by both of them.

Can you be more specific about the bahviour and why you think he thinks he´s the father? If they aren´t a bonded pair, you could try moving his cage away from her, perhaps try another room of the house, rearranging his cage, moving food bowls and perches.

I’m gonna try that. It could just be he’s fascinated with the concept of eggs. I know my starlings were at one time. As for jade he sits next to the cage when my Royal is laying eggs making these weird…. Sounds. I did try and block his line of sight with her recently. I’m waiting to see how that turns out.
