Poor Jacob. I hope the medication works and that it helps him stay fit and active for many years to come.

"At least I know", went through my mind, when Pepper's news was, "not what I was hoping for". Now you have a solid foundation to support future treatments and decisions.

Artrosis = Osteoarthritis (according to Google Translate), so perhaps your vet as just switching between English and Spanish, rather than it being an additional issue.

Hoping for the best for you guys.

Yea, He said Jacob has artrosis (general condition) , and he also has osteoarthritic processes (the little weird thingies on the x-ray) caused by said artrosis.
The root of all of this was the dysplasia, and old age chiming in.

As a side note, these really are the difficult days of living in a foreign country and dealing with that language barrier while sorting through medical jargon. I think I did fantastic remembering all that given I left the notes behind. But there was one more word... and I cannot remember it. I will ask when I go on saturday for more pills.

Those indentations bring to mind the film Léon: The Professional.

The titular character is a hitman, and he sleeps sitting upright in a chair, with his sunglasses on, so people won't know he's sleeping.

Jacob's indentations create the appearance of closed eyes, while his actual eyes may be open and watchful.

Osteologic changes are horrible and I hate that they affect our pets and loved ones! (We are going through this with our Malinois, she is broken after years in the military on the front line fighting insurgents and then an apprehension dog when she got stateside.) It sounds as though your Veterinarian is putting Jacob on good medicine! The Forti-flora probiotic powder sachets have always been well received in this household, but they do have an odor to them. I hope Jacob responds well and has no side effects from the NSAIDs. He is very handsome. (And remind me not to complain about shedding hair around you. Labs and Mals are bad, but I cannot imagine what Chow does to a Hoover)

Thanks everyone :)

With luck the medicines will help him live his elderly years in comfort. If not, we will have to look at whether he would recover well from the surgery filing down the femur, and the other surgery on his elbows.

He has always lived a special needs life, but he never struggled before. The dysplasia is something he´s always had, but the artrosis is the new problem.

I woke up to find Jacob had been sick. Frank gave him the morning treat and he took it but then dropped it and left it on the floor! Very NOT like him at all! It´s his fave thing, he usually waits by the bed nudging him every 20 mins or so to wake him to get a treat.
I had work stuff to do all day. Came home to find he´d gone into the walk-in shower and had a huge bum explosion. He´s sleeping here by me now, I had given him ham which he ate but not like he usually does, it just seemed he was sad or slow? The last slice, he brought here, and it´s still on the floor!!! What dog leaves ham?!?!
I have a meeting at 9.30am, and as soon as I´m out of there I´ll call the hospital to let them know we´re on the way :(

I got a message today reminding me to go to the vet for the trocoxil..

JAcob is just not looknig or acting like himself. I´m very worried. I´m scared he is in pain.
