It didn't take very long for her to destroy the toys (which look adorable). Is this typical?

No! Totally remarkable.

The balsa hearts from Sarah first arrived for their travel cages (MC was ill and traveling to and from the vet). Apparently there are different levels of balsa because the other heart lasted a while. Just have her the other one...

MC absolutely loved one of Sarah's toys and his last one is in Secret's cage now. You could almost see his eyes light up when it came out.

Secret has toys in her cage for years. Occasionally one spikes her interest. I'll see if I can find that other thread for you.

@Sparkles99

So you can see all birds are different with their toys, I'm going to attach an old thread about toys that went into the two cages the same day. MC passed away on April 28 this year (from cancer). Both of these guys are Male, blue front amazons, wild caught. I know I have a picture of Secret from 1978.

Enjoy.

Wow, my phone erased words before I posted.

MC's favorite toy from Sarah (Seriously Nutz) was "What The Shell."

That was Jasper favorite too - when she could still have toys.

Sorry to hear about MC. :(

It's neat that your birds are so old. Secret's older than I am! His feathers are beautiful, especially now that I know how old he is.

That was a great thread! When I saw the destruction, I thought it was shocking how much everyone here must spend on toys. Now I realize that it depends on the bird, the toy, their mood.

Yep!

You don't want all indestructable toys anyway. It depresses the bird ... or at least it did MC. I had all hard wood toys and while he liked them, he couldn't destroy them. One soft wood toy later, I realized the change in his attitude.

Wish I could say that about Secret right now. I started to sit her on my arm and realized I'd LOSE a chunk of that arm if I did that, so diverted Secret to the T stick. All birds are different.

She's out of the cage and I'm hoping to keep that last toy at least a day!

I would have thought that toy was too small for a macaw. Did they take her toys away too? Bad enough to give up her fritos.

She was eating wood like it was Fritos. I think she developed a case of Pica. She got impacted with wood last year and had to have all her toys taken away. She got a Frito now and then. Like Dr. said life isn't worth living without Fritos.

It's a GW thing! Rosie developed Pica after her first stroke. Ate the weirdest things! Paper, wood, the corn cob instead of the corn ON the cob.
Think Secret found a new love for toys. Looks like that one is being destroyed too. LOL
