Its cold season

I have a young budgie, less than 4 months old. It seems that I have caught a cold! Can my bird catch it from me? Other than normal precautions (washing my hands before touching anything in his cage, not coughing or sneezing around him) is there anything else I should do? Should I wear a mask around him? He is not tame yet and won't let me touch him. Sorry if this seems stupid but he is young and new to me.

Most viruses are not zoonotic from humans to birds. Bacterial infections can, but viruses like the common cold cannot

Colds and flu are not transmittable to birds however I would still use caution and keep sanitary conditions. Make sure hands are washed and obviously do not sneeze or cough near him. This is not a stupid question at all!

I asked something similar recently when I had tonsilitis. We get sick and turn into worry warts

Thank you. Its turns out my cold was just allergies from the smoke and low humidity in the Los Angeles area. Her's picture of my little "girl". I learned from the community that my little Sweetie is a she. Isn't she just adorable?

Yes. The pet store thinks she's less than 3 months old. I've had her for 5 weeks and she hasn't started moulting yet.
