i leave her on a stand when she displays this behaviour, is there anything else i could do to discourage it? how long does the hormonal period last?
I’ve read that this behavior can last two to three months or more. Some birds are sadly like this year round. My CH conure is very hormonal right now, and I am decreasing the abundance of food and eliminated fruit for now. I’ve increased his dark/sleep time to 14 hours each night. I’ve also eliminated paper for him to shred (nesting material). These things haven’t eliminated all his behaviors, but it’s much better. He hasn’t been regurgitating to me, and his aggression has decreased.
