Ophelia's been plucking, unfortunately. She's been doing this for years with medical causes ruled out, but only recently has she started plucking her neck. Her neck area is now bare. I looked today and noticed that there is a bulge at the plucked spot. Her bare spot is off to one side, and I noticed that only that side has the bulge (the other side is flat). Is this normal, or is it just her crop? Is the crop off to one side? Worried mama here. I'd take her to the vet except they've closed to all non-emergencies, so I'd like your opinion as to whether this constitutes as an emergency.

Pictures don't really show the bulge very well, but they're all I could get.

I would say the top edge of the crop and some neck. Crop is down a little further and favouring one side.

So do you think it needs to be seen? The bulge is way more noticeable in person than in the photos. It is favouring her right side (our left).

The bulge off to one side is the crop. I thought you meant the plucking. The crop itself also doesn't have very many feathers if any on it (usually covered)

Nope, the crop is on the right and sort of wraps around to the left. It's not perfectly centere d though and it's definitely more asymmetrical at times depending on how full it is.

She is still such a beautiful bird. Just make sure that crop empties out.
