I bought a carrier from someone today on kijiji and they super glued it to fix a crack in it and as i was cleaning it i started to get a headache because the smell of the glue was so strong. i was dumb enough to clean it in the room the birds sleep in at night and ive had my window open for the last two hours trying to air it out but it smells just as strong. i need to know if its safe for them to be around because i have no idea where they can go tonight if its not and they sleep in about an hour. the carrier isnt in the room anymore and everything in there is dried but i have no clue why its still so strong

Most glues are not safe for birds. I too have had glue headaches that turned into migraine. I would return the carrier.

Only when the smell is completely gone is the room safe.

ive had 4 people in my house go in my room to smell for glue and nobody can smell it anymore but i may still smell it faintly but could be my imagination. do you think its safe and do you think it would kill my birds if there was even a faint smell of glue?

Well it’s true that sometimes bad smells seem to stay in our noses and we can continue to smell them even after the smell is gone, so if four people can’t smell anything, I would think the fumes would be gone. I can’t tell you what you should do, and it’s always better to err on the side of caution. If you do put them in there, leave the door open. You could also leave the window cracked and the heater running. If they are covered in another room, that would be safest.
