I know “apple” ... we have mostly Granny smits and gold reinettes.. or anyways, thats what i eat and feed my birds. I dont like sour apple species. Only the red, sweet ones ;-)

Totally! They're usually quite hard so you either twist your ankle or if your lucky they just squelch

That is exactly what I did with the safe wood branches I used. I usually collected them after a storm because you don't want a branch that has been on the ground for a while. I fastened them in all kinds of directions with zip ties at the end.
