Hi everyone! Long time no talk! Hope everyone and their birdies are well!

I apologize for not posting or visiting here much. My life has been so busy but Blu is doing great. He's so sweet and happy.

We are moving to a new place soon and I'm a little nervous about uprooting him from his old place. I hope he transitions well.

My question is...how difficult is it to disassemble the loro flight cage?

I was almost considering just buying him a new flight cage instead of worrying so much about taking his old one apart but it seems there are not many flight cages available these days in brands that I'm familiar with. I was hoping to maybe get a King's flight cage but those don't seem to be available anymore. I see some unknown brands like yaheetech and tucker and murphy and pawhut and all kinds of others but not sure how well they're made so I'm hoping I can take his old one apart easily.

He really only uses it to sleep on top of it. It's never closed as he has and will still have his own room. If it's difficult to disassemble would it be okay to just get him one of those lesser know brands since he really only sleeps on top?

Thanks for any insight!

There are huge flight cages for cheap, but honestly with how much quakers chew, I wouldn't trust them. I have one cheap huge flight cage for Toto and Koko, and while it works great for the green cheeks, it was AWFUL to assemble and I use zipties for extra support in a few places. Hoping someone can help! Here are some assembly instructions, not sure if this helps or not https://www.midwesthomes4pets.com/wp-content/uploads/avian-adventures-loro-flight-cage.pdf

Thank you so much for responding and getting those assembly instructions. It's very helpful since I barely remember putting it together in the first place. I'm thinking I should probably get a rubber mallot if I attempt to take it apart? I'd really hope to keep his old cage since the less change possible is probably best.

I don't have experience with the Loro but I did the Mediana several times. Avian Adventures cages are the EASIEST cages to take apart and put together. I could do Gizmo's AA Mediana in about 20 minutes, and it would take me 45-60 to do each of the Prevue Flight Cages I had.

If I had a Loro I wouldn't be replacing it anytime soon unless I absolutely had to. I have a yaheetech for Quibble and the quality is HORRENDOUS.

I was thinking older cages are probably better quality than newer cages too! Can I ask how you did it, Mizzely? Did you just kind of pull it apart at the seams? Bang lightly with a rubber mallot?

It's been about 10 years since I've had to take it apart...I don't remember needing a mallet, but you could use a rubber mallet to help you get it going. I always just pulled the top off and everything else is easier once you get that off!

As you know they are just put together with tabs/pegs that slot into another pieces. Since they are easy to put together I would assume they would be just as easy to take apart. The one step that might be difficult could be removing the base from the main cage body. It's possible you might have to use a flat head screwdriver to pry the top off.
It's worth giving it a try which it seems that you are going to do. Hope you can do it. Hard to replace that cage with something that is as nice.
