Is basil a safe perch option?

For much needed context; I have taken out a dead basil plant from my back yard and cut out the dried up roots, thinking I could save it for later as a perch. I already washed in my bathtub with boiling water and also want to use a mixture of distilled clear vinegar, water, and lemon juice as its “soap” for further rinsing, only to then dry it in the sun I’ll use a towel on it. (I hope it won’t rain lol.)

Is that basil plant worth the effort or is it potentially dangerous for any future bird? Oh and btw, once it’ll dry completely I’ll store it in a dark and dry place, like my closet for example, or a cabinet of sorts if it fits.

I hope this fits under the health category…

if not then where should I post this? Please let me know

Basil is bird safe so long as it has not been previously sprayed with pesticides/herbicides.
