I need some education. Ok, is an IRN a parrot or a parrakeet? And what exactly is the difference between a parrot and parrakeet?

Parakeets are parrots. As I understand it, when they were first classifying birds, all birds with long tails were called parakeets.
Even budgies (commonly called parakeets) and cockatiels are parrots. All hook bills are parrots.

Allison has it right i think. They even call quakers "quaker parakeets" im assuming because of the tail? I think its a bit misleading because I personally think "small" when i think parakeet. I remember when i first told my MIL i had an Indian Ringneck Parakeet she thought she was tiny til she actually met her.
