Hey Auntie Sparkles!
Well I don’t know if she’s a girl but I did ask for a DNA test and have Jalapeño as an alternate name. She’s not chirped yet and Francois the lizard canary is upstairs in my husbands home office in order to keep them separate so they can’t hear other yet.
She flew at the bird store a lot further than I expected a clipped bird to but in some ways I’m glad she can because she can get around her big cage easily.
the dogs are now officially intrigued and she seems unbothered. What if the dogs lick the cage?
she stepped up onto my hand repeatedly at the bird store but I’m giving her time to settle in now
She’s eating and drinking (so am I, but not water lol) but so far has tasted but not eaten the pumpkin seed, pine nut, kale nor Millet I offered. I’ll try again tmo.
Now that she’s here I’m feeling calm and happy. I’m sure I’ll have nervous question onslaughts again within 24...

It’s good s/he can still flutter fly- they didn’t do a severe chop! So the muscles can still get some work and when those primaries do moult out and grow back in there won’t be much of a transition.
Just like with a new baby/toddler, new birdies might not know something is delicious if they’ve never had it before. It might take a couple tries before they figure out something is super yummy. But oh man, when they do… it’s like Wonka’s golden ticket!

So it’s 7am and I’m outside looking for an outdoors plug in my yard so I can grind my coffee beans without waking up the “baby”. As a momma of four humans (2 adults and 2 “surprise” twin little ones), this is feeling familiar lol!

7am lucky you if i am not up and feeding Mojo by 7am there is mayhem.

Change the grinder to smoothie blender and the twins to engineer husband who isn’t a morning person… and you have my morning!
The birds get a tiny bit of my smoothie, though. I share because if I have to drink wheatgrass, why can’t they?
