I'm Rednecked, and I'm not new to the forum; just newly registered.
I have caiques as companions, and that should tell you enough about me. Two right now, a male and female not genetically related, of the white-bellied variety.
Their names are Ilana and Amari, and they're just a few months past 2 years old -- they were hatched exactly a month apart.
Soon I will have a black headed female [caique], and probably a black headed male within a year or two if we can find a right match.
I live in a location where it would be common to encounter a redneck, and the screen name is just a play on words akin to birds.
If you're wondering, we don't necessarily intend to breed the caiques. But if they wind up wanting to we won't stop them, and we will take all of the care to ensure healthy baby parrots and parents.
I'm a firm believer in using nature to your advantage, pairing birds with their sexual counterparts seems natural to me and that is the reasoning. If it makes them happy to breed, so be it.
I am purposefully vague as my career is in Information Security -- willfully divulging unsanctioned information on random digital interfaces is asking for trouble.
But if you know me then you can guess who I am with what I have shared.
I thank everyone who will or already has helped me in some way with my parrot companionship journey. I felt it was just time to register.
