Infertile egg bound

I have an 8 year old female parakeet who was egg bound in the past but I knew she was as her egg was stuck protruding out of her. This time she has been swollen since end of May with no sign off egg. What do I do? There is not much info about this and I have no vet willing to take her. I have massage the area but she has been like this for so long! She is in a cage alone so it’s obviously an infertile egg. I can’t feel the egg when I massage her. Is it possible she appears pregnant but isn’t?

If you can't see or feel an egg, I would consider other possibilities. She might not be egg-bound.

Do you have any pictures?

She definitely is acting like she is. She looks wet as I was soaking her in warm water. But she has been like this for a long time now.

Welcome to the Avenue

I have no vet willing to take her
What does this mean? I don´t understand why a vet would refuse to see her?

Is there not another vet? Maybe a city or two over?
If you need help locating somewhere, let us know what area you live in and some members might be able to help find somewhere.

You need to find a vet that will see her. Are there any emergency vets?

I’ve been told this before by vet clinics so I rang around and found one further away that was taking new patients. Sometimes a vet clinic is servicing larger areas or more animals than they really have time for. Human Doctor clinics do the same thing when they can’t adequately provide appointments for their existing clients.
Call around to other vet clinics, if they say the same thing ask them if they know of a clinic close by that’s taking new patients.
I also think your bird needs professional help.
