Nice discussion of the hazards of candles, air fresheners, scents and so on. It's aimed at human health and safety but has some good discussion of the chemicals given off by fragranced products and why these are bad.

It does say that limited use of soy and beeswax candles is safe, but this is for humans and other mammals. Birds have a very effective respiratory system which makes them vulnerable to any air pollutants. The use of candles and other products around birds is strongly discouraged.

nice article but I want to add that a HEPA filter will not necessarily take care of formaldehyde etc in the air.
you need to check that there is a carbon/charcoal filter in there also that you replace regularly.
