I'm New - scam?

Hi Everyone. I'm John. I have a Cape Parrot and a green cheek conure that love me to death and a cockateil who hates me

Has anybody heard of "Up-Hero Parrots"? I was thinking of buying from them. They are located in California. Their prices seem quite low, and they have a suspicious lack of reviews on the web, or perhaps I'm not looking in the right places or the searches aren't functioning the way I'd hoped? They said I could pick up a grey and pay on location, which seems unlikely for a complete scam to offer. Can anyone help?

No specifics on the type of macaws but macaw prices are low.

Lack of website is a red flag to me.



Also, anyone selling eggs is an immediate suspect for a scam, as fertilized eggs do not travel well.

The funny thing is, Uphero is a domain host from what I can tell. So "uphero parrots" would be the same thing as calling your company GoDaddy Parrots, Google Parrots, Shopify Parrots, etc.

Odds are that this place is a scam.

Welcome to AA! It does seem that they have odd prices, and as mizzely said lack of a website is strange. And the fact that there selling four week old babies is definitely a red flag.

@John Lawton Have you checked out some of the rescues? I've seen a few Greys listed every now and then.
Can you get a grey (if that is what you are looking for) from whomever you purchased the Cape or the green cheek from?

Wow! I can't believe how many genuine and helpful responses I received in no time! Where has this website been!? Yes, They have Greys at the place, Anna's Parrots, (in PA) where I got my cape from, but they seem overpriced to me. They do sell high quality birds, but most Greys are hovering around $4,000, and I think that's quite high. Any ideas about reasonable credible alternatives for around $2,000 - $2,500 for a hand-tamed grey?

Welcome to the forum! I second checking out some rescues. Wonderful birds can be found. "Rescue" doesn't necessarily mean a "problem" bird. They can end up in rescues for a variety of reasons. For instance, our local rescue is about to take in 5 new birds because their owner is too ill to take care of them anymore.
