Calling all cooks!
I'm looking for an organic Nutriberry type recipe.

On my NO list is;
It doesn't need to have unsulphured dried fruit in it, but unsulphured Papaya would be alright.
No corn
No wheat
No peanuts
Chopped nuts would be alright. I'm making them for Macaws.

On my YES list is;
Some known non-allergenic type grains would be a must.
I'm thinking toasted cooked brown rice?
What about Oatmeal? Is that a good grain? I don't want to use known allergens.
Molasses would be fine. I think it offers a source for some minerals.

Now I need some advice from someone that cooks and bakes!

Thanks so much.

I got this one from another site ( credit to Mandy from Indiana)and added to my birdie recipe book - I haven't tried it yet, but the nice thing about these is that you can substitute ingredients ie) I use organic almond butter rather than peanut butter. Most of my ingredients come from the health food store, and they are not that expensive. I dry alot of my own fruit and then freeze it - no sulphur or preservatives, it does lose colour but tastes great:)

Homemade Nutriberries
1 cup dried fruit
2 tbsp coconut
1/2 cup uncooked old fashioned oatmeal
2 tbsp peanut butter
1/4 cup high quality seed or crushed nuts
1 tbsp molasses
1/4 cup pellets

Blend all dry ingredients in food processor, or by hand(chopping with knife) until finely chopped. Place mix in a bowl and add peanut butter and molasses. Mix well, will be very sticky. Roll into small 1/2" balls, put on cookie sheet lined with parchement paper ( or foil lightly rubbed with oil) Bake at 325 F for 20 minutes. cool and serve - store in a tightly sealed container.

Let us know how it works out :)
