I had initially thought the same and then tried to figure out if it was only used for certain species or what, and it never made sense

There used to be a doodah on the site that when you hovered over some words or abbreviations, a box pooped up with the "meaning". Like for PFLB (peach-face lovebird), and fids was one of those, which is how I knew what it was as I hadn't heard or seen the term before joining AA

I really miss that it was super helpful and helped me to learn a lot of species abbreviations as well.

I think we may have lost it in one of the updates possibly. I'm not sure if that's why since I wasn't active for a few years and when I came back it had changed.
