To me, it kinda looks like a mini version of what Oscar and Jericho do before a sneeze when the seasons change.
I always thought it might feel like we do when we have a cold -- postnasal drip.

Definitely a familiar movement, and not one that I'm concerned with in mine.

Expensive taste :)
Glad he's put on some weight.
Looks like the movements Burt does when he has something itching his face, a shake like that is often followed by a toe in the nose a sneeze or a face rub/scratch. Nothing I have ever been worried about.

The macadamias are very much Burts favorites but unfortunately they are one of the higher fat nuts so they are rationed here.
I haven’t seen my conures do it so its unfamiliar to me, I’m glad to hear that y’all have seen it!

Puff does it but watching him and trying to decide if it's a issue or his own noises hurt his ears as he can be pretty loud. He's a Jenday Conure and so far no definite evidence he has a ear infection.

The crop cultures came back — showed heavy klebsiella growth. It showed sensitivity to baytril which he was previously on, but now we are going to treat with ciprofloxacin.

He is otherwise doing well!

I do not mean to belittle what he, and you, are going through in any way, but he is truly fortunate to have such a caring, and attentive, owner.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. We are still getting to know each other, but I am lucky to have found him, too.

Just wanted to give some updates! We are still doing hand feedings 2x a day, but I now have a new job that allows me to work from home, so I've pushed his morning feeding from 6am to 11am so he can sit in his hunger a bit and be more enticed to eat food on his own in the morning. I do see him eating more and more on his own, and his water bowl is genuinely dirty by the end of the day. Look at his weight chart. :D We're slowly trending up (lbs should be g -- I do not have a 900 pound macaw in my house). I'm not sure at what point I should expect him to cap but I'll let him set the pace.

His feathers are looking better now, and we have flight feathers coming in!!!

His favorite thing is to just look outside the window in the evening. I keep the pillow there so he can go stalk the neighbors whenever he wants.

I have ordered 2 stands from @Wingdow so that he has some actual stations around the house, because he's been using a stair ladder until now.

Omg what a fabulous update! He's looking like a brand new bird. Your love and care with him is spectacular and he's so lucky to have you. I may have missed it somehow and I apologize what's his name?
