I think one of my cockatiels (Mariah) just started her first molt. I heard the youngest they usually have their first molt is 6 months, but she isn't even 5 months. I have also read they can molt as early as 5 months. I got her from a breeder at 2 months and one day, so we know her exact hatch day. She normally doesn't loose really any feathers, but today alone she has lost 8 (that I know of), all from different places. She has lost three in ten minutes, and I know when they molt they loose a lot of feathers very fast. One time I left for two days and came back and my other cockatiel (Millie) had lost about a third of the feathers on her head. I will put a picture of all the feathers Mariah has lost today. One is a tail feather she previously broke.
