And I videoed it... :knockknock:

Apparently, there was only rubbish seeds left outside and this is what they do to complain about it in the hopes I fill the dish....

"excuse me madam, I was just passing by and noticed that you have neglected to refill the seed bowl. If this happens again I will be informing the local authorities"

Are the doves making any sound? I thought the music may be covering up their calls.

I love the doves! They are so expressive.
Yes, they bring so much joy!! Since Pepper landed on my balcony, I have had my eyes opened to why people keep them as companions :cloud9:

No, they were silent. Sometimes I turn around and they are just there looking in the door.
I uploaded some videos of them cooing and didn´t put any music over.

I´m dying laughing at everyones replies

I love how well you're taking care of all the neighbourhood doves  They all look really happy!

I find it really cool how all doves have different voices - even parent/child, the coos are just so different.

@Lady Jane - hens talk as well :)

Interesting. I thought I read that somewhere too but I wasn´t sure.
When the couples come to eat and drink, they are almost always silent.

Did the lovebirds see the dove come in your house?
Yes. all the birds can see the doorway... but they also see the doves outside all the time so they aren´t scared thankfully. Sydney can´t see out from his cage but he´s seen the doves when he´s been out flying.

Oww. I´d love to know which are male and which are female. They all seem the same to me
Although I have caught a few of the doves mating on the silver bar... so I´m assuming hen is on bottom. Not sure if it was the same pair of doves. I´m also thinking that it is the male that is feeding the hen, like most other birds.
I love these doves, they are so sweet. They seem to like sitting out there just watching me..... :knockknock:

You can actually hear the difference (usually). The coos are generally a little different.
(the person is acting a little strange with the birds in this video, imo, but you can hear both birds cooing) In this video, the hen is on the right. At 1:18 you hear her coo and it's a bit of a different sound. A little higher, "sweeter", not as deep - it's a little hard to describe which is why I found a video to illustrate my point lol. This difference is there in most doves so you can at least guess at genders like this. And hens do feed their mates as well, if I'm not mistaken.

I think what the guy in your video was doing was kinda announcing himself; welcoming another day and just striking up communication - like many birds do in the morning. The cooing in the video I shared is the "lovey" "let's make babies" sound; you'd probably hear it if you were around nesting doves. A third kind is the "show-offy" coo that the males do accompanying bowing to impress the girls. It sounds similar, but whereas in this video all the body language was "lovey" (wing flicking, crouching, snuggling) the show-offy cooing is accompanied by puffy strutting, bowing, and sometime's even light aggression.
