I want to make a platform perch for my tiel Pippa, and I was wondering what I should use a how to make one that will last and only really fall apart from her chewing on it

Would it not be easier (and maybe even cheaper) just to buy one?

Choose your wood carefully, make sure it has no cracks or splits in it, make sure it's thick enough so that it doesn't split when you put in metal hardware.

Here's a list of bird safe wood: Bird; Birds: Safe, Toxic Trees, Woods. Safe Tree Wood. Parrots. Parrot cages.
Here's a guide to putting in hardware for a perch: Parrot, Birds, Perches: Bird Perch. Bird Safe natural wood perches. Parrots Supplies.

Depending on the size of the platform, you may want to put two hanger bolts in it for stability.

thanks, we have a lot of eucalyptus trees outside and I can get a decent disk when I get some branches for a play stand and I would prefer to have one with two bolts to make it sturdier
