I don't know the gender (it doesn't have that much yellow, so I was thinking female. It is a cinnamon, if that helps), I was hoping someone could help me out. The birb came with clipped wings :( (At least it is not severe, just barely clipped, but it is still sad). We are thinking of naming it Crouton, Odin, or Mochi, but if anyone has any name suggestions, that would help :) .

Pictures are coming soon! :p

Congratulations! Mochi is a super cute name. Because they’re so young, you’re gonna have to wait or get a DNA test to know the gender.

When I was choosing names, it helped to make a big list and slowly narrow it down. You can also try out different names on your baby and see if they have any favorites. Mimi actually chose hers!

Little story for fun: When my bird Mimi was young, I assumed her to be a male and deemed her Xander. Needless to say, she didn’t approve of it.
I tried out Miu after her DNA came back and she was equally as unimpressed with that. Then came the nickname Mimi and she chirped back instantly. Thus, she was crowned Mimi!

Ok, do you know how long it takes to get the test back?
It varies on what test and company is used I believe. Years ago, it took a couple weeks for my results.
I used a local bird specialty store but you can also get an avian vet to send the sample off.

Delivery times can take longer right now because of the pandemic, so can’t really say, but once the sample is received you should get results fairly quickly.

Oooh congrats on the new birb!! :congrats5: I really like Mochi and Crouton, but Odin is also really cute now that i think about it.....Mochi is super good for a girl's name, but Crouton would also be so good because it's a cinnamon and those are usually speckled, right? I can't wait for pictures!!! (I might have a name suggestion by then lol) :)

Congratulations! That chrest!

Your baby looks scared, I would leave him alone for a day or two so he can adjust.

I love all those names, but I think Mochi is the favorite.

Hey I was just wondering- What music do your cockatiels prefer, do you have a Spotify playlist?

If he's a cinnamon, after his/her first molt, you should be able to tell the gender I believe. That cute face will get more yellow if a boy. Also a female will have wing spots on the underside of the wings and bars on the underside of the tail. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

Yeah, the females will have bars under the tail. I have two cinnamon females.
My tiels listen to whatever I listen to, which they like because they get used to it and it sounds like home. I always leave music on when I leave the house. Actually, music is on all day long here.
