Hello,

My new parakeets, Paloma and Claudia are adjusting well to their new home. I have a question about nesting boxes. I have no male parakeet in the cage, only the two sisters. Should I have a nesting box in there so they do not have any egg-binding issues?

Thank you.

Ily

Welcome to the Avenue :hiya:

Generally speaking, offering nest boxes increases chances of egg laying which is where egg binding comes in- you want to make your parrots less likely to wish to lay rather than give them an awesome place to lay.

Hello and welcome! I love the names!

I wouldn’t keep a nesting box - it would only encourage them to lay.
