A large, long-lived "hot" bird like an Amazon is a poor choice of bird for a minor still attending school and living with parents. Amazons can be loud, messy, destructive and hormonal - not something that all parents will welcome. The period of years between the ages of 18 and 25 is likely to be very unsettled as you enter university, an apprenticeship or training, move out of your parents' house and in with friends or to your own place, form friendships and get in (and out) of relationships and so on. Having a demanding parrot in tow will make all of this already challenging time much harder.
