I had noticed that early in this thread you mentioned that they were open mouth breathing. That many times indicates an upper respiratory infection. Sorry I didn't read this sooner and give you a warning, but they were both gone by the time I read it.

Everyone - do not discount an upper respiratory infection if you bird is breathing through his mouth and get him to the vet immediately if there is any breathing sound.

Thank you. I did take notice and told both vets but it was too late. I would be surprised if they turned out to be in tip top shape after being in such conditions. I'm just glad I was able to give them what they deserved in their last days. I feel no regrets taking them. They will be my Meeps forever.

I'm very sorry to hear this. :( At least they passed away knowing someone cared.

This week has been a mess in so many ways. I keep seeing Astro on the vet table in place of Meep and tear up just as I'm about to fall asleep. It has touched me deeply. I'm not coping very well with this.

Thank you. I have developed a liking for canaries and finches with the experience. I love your profile picture.

I would quarantine them from your birds for a month (if you are keeping them that long.). Keep it so they can still see each other (if you fell safe with that) but if they were kept in bad conditions you there might be something that they can`t get, but other species of birds can. :budgie2: They`re nails also look really long. not sure if thats just the picture

Thank you for taking care of them and loving them. I'm so glad their last experience with humans was a caring one. :sorrow:
