Can someone please look at theses photos (sorry for the poor quality but we didn't want to stress her out more) of her vent and tell me if she seems swollen down there and if it would be normal if she and Trinket are mating or if she's getting ready to lay an egg.

The boys vents don't look like this.

She looks fluffed to me, and she seems off. She still wants to bite the tar of me and she's eating and drinking, but I'm wondering if she needs to go to the vet tomorrow.

I'd keep an eye on her. She definitely could be getting ready to lay. Has she passes extra large r wet poops? This is uually a sign also.

Ginger, you have very good parront instincts. If you feel uncomfortable about it take her to the vet. :hug5:

It's very bulgy, isn't it. I agree, I think a vet visit's in order.

If you are concerned, I am not sure I would wait until tomorrow. Parrots hide their illnesses well, so if she is fluffed up and "off," I would be worried and wouldn't wait.

Oh no Ginger, I would get her in. It almost looks like a prolapse, no?

I can't really tell, i've never seen that end of any of my birds while they're about to lay an egg, I just happen occasionally to see them in the up right position with a little "lump" in the bottom of their belly - you can see it when they perch none of mine would let me hold them like that to see - even with a glove on they'd tear me to pieces

But to me it looks like her vent feathers have been trimmed?

but Like the others said when in doubt see the vet. It may just be an egg, even if she's not mated with a male, but having them around may cause her to want to start laying

Lucky just laid about a week ago, and she was constantly in her hut and not active at all. Normally she's bouncing off the cage walls. I don't know what her vent looked like though, although I know the area does swell a little.

I know when my girl had a prolapse it looked like a red bump growing on the opening. This just looks swollen to me.

I'm going to email Dr. Harris with the photos. I wondering if Trinket's just harrying her and perhaps has irritated the area with mating? I've seen them trying to mate but I don't know if they've succeeded.

here are some photos of evie way back. she never laid eggs, but the second time around when her vent was swollen and big she ended up laying (but i think that's just cuz she had a nestbox this time).

i have more photos, but not sure where they are at the moment in my hard drive.
