I feel like I am new here. I remembered that I have an account on Avian Avenue after being out after having COVID. I am glad that I stumbled across this forum again. I am still dealing with Long Covid symptoms since fall of 2021. Is there anything new or changed lately?

This is such a friendly group. Maggie my Macaw, was very upset with me having another parrot that I just have Maggie now. She is over 30 years old. I have had her since she hatched. In all these years that I have had him, I never got him DNA'd. But he has never laid an egg, so I am sure Maggie is a he. Maggie is a very picky eater. Does not like pellet food, no corn, safflower seeds etc. When I buy a food he seems to only eat 1/2 of what is in the blend of food. The one food that he really likes is the Lafebers's classic Nutri berries. I feed him fresh chop but not all the time. He loves nuts (natural, raw, unsalted of course..

Can anyone with a Macaw recommend a diet without peppers, corn, that he may like without wasting half the container?

Welcome back! May I ask if you are speaking of pellets? If so, I believe that you are out of luck if there can be no corn or peppers used.

No, pellets, she will not eat them. I have tried, Harrison's, TOP and even the Zupreem. She won't touch them.

If getting fruits and vegetables in is difficult, you could try making a "birdie bread". There are commercially prepared ones, but you can make your own as well. If you search, you will find a number of threads with recipes.

If your bird likes the nutriberries, The company also makes a pellet (which they use in the nutriberries) perhaps that might help with the pellet conversion.
