Howard fluffed his feathers and I saw a few of these feathers. The downy feathers around them are matted and feel somewhat oily. I've never seen any like these on him before. 20200109_191700.jpg

Has he had any baths recently? He may need more moisture.

He gets a bath once a week. Should I increase that? Do you think that might be why the feathers have black on them?

How old is he? The black on his feathers looks like bronzing which happens from the feathers rubbing against things frequently. It is most common in young birds.

Unfortunately we have no information on him, he was a rescue. I asked our avian vet what she thought his age might be and she guessed 30ish.
