My only two birds are a bonded pair, they are also not tame. A couple months ago my dad thought it would be funny to put a hamster wheel on their cage. My female parakeet, cricket instantly took a liking to it. She spends most of her time in it. But she has been acting weird lately. She's become protective of it. I've seen her do some wing flipping she's been cleaning it obsessively, and she's become more affectionate to my male bird and her hubby, mushu. Does she want to lay and egg? I cant tell and my mom doesn't think she will. But I've looked it up and she is showing signs of it. Any ideas? The picture is her in the wheel.

She probably sees that as a nest, if you want to discourage egg laying, then remove it.
