Where to post a thread?

The forums are listed in four different groups on this site.
¨
Forum info highway¨ - For tech help, forum related topics and rules
¨
Main street¨ - To talk about people topics
¨
Avian Avenue¨ - For bird topics
¨
Species speedway¨ - Species specific topics

Examples,
If you are a new member and want to say hello, ¨
Welcome Lane¨ is found in Main street.
If you have a cockatiel and have a question regarding their mutation, a good place to post would be in ¨Cockatiel corner¨ in Species speedway.
For diet help, there is the ¨
Feathered food court¨ in Avian Avenue.
Browse through the list of forums to see where things are. There´s even a place to talk about cats, horses and other pets in ¨Other than feathers speedway¨ on Main street. Hover over the forums and a pop-up will appear to explain what the forum is about.

Here is a complete list; How To: - How to know where to post/find a thread

How to add a poll to a thread

If you want to add a poll to a thread, it is important that you do not post the thread until after you add the poll. Poll options can be changed after the thread is posted but you cannot add a poll to a posted thread that did not have a poll to start with.
After you have filled in the text box, scroll down. You will see it says ¨Post a poll¨ and there is a black triangle on the right hand of it. Click the triangle

polltriangle.jpg

Fill in the blank boxes. First, type in the question in the top box.
Next, add in the choices. As you complete one box, another will appear here

pollchoice.jpg

Then, choose how many times people can vote in your poll; Once, unlimited, or type in your own amount.
There are some additional options. Tick the appropriate boxes. Click a ticked box to remove the tick.
You can change these options, and also add more answers after you thread is posted by clicking the ¨edit¨ button (see next paragraph below). You cannot remove any answers once they have been posted.
When you are happy with the poll, click ¨Post thread¨

pollcomp.jpg

Your posted poll will appear like this;

newthreadposted.jpg
The title is at the top (indicated by the red arrow).
The poll in underneath. Followed by the thread message (circled).
If you selected the option to view results without voting, you will see the button ¨view results¨ (circled). If not, you will need to vote to be able to see them.

How to comment in a thread

When reading a thread, you can join in the conversation by commenting. You must be a member to comment anywhere on the site. At the bottom of the thread, you will see an empty text box, like this;
replytothread.jpg

Fill out the box and click the blue ¨post reply¨ button.
You can use all of the icons and features as mentioned above to alter your comment. Click
here to go back and look at the icons again.
You cannot add a poll to a comment, that feature is only available when creating a thread.

How to quote a comment

You can quote anyones comments in your own post, even your own.

How to quote someones whole comment in your own post;

Click the word ¨reply¨ (circled in the picture) to the right, under their post,
quotesingle.jpg

Their comment will appear in your text box where you can then add your message, click ¨post reply¨ once you are done. It will look like this once posted;

quotesingleview.jpg

You can click the orange arrow in a circle next to the members name in the quote to be taken right to that message.

To quote a part of someones comment in your own post;

This is handy to pick out little pieces of a larger comment, or to repspond to a specific part of someone elses post. Highlight the part you wish to quote. Click the word ¨reply¨ that pops up

quotepartial.jpg

The quote will appear in your text box. Add your message and click ¨post reply¨. It will look like this;

How to insert multiple quotes to your own post;

Next to the ¨reply¨ buttons mentioned in the two previous paragprahs is the word/button ¨+Quote¨.
This is used to quote multipe comments and drop them into your own post.
First, select all of the quotes you want to use by clicking this button underneath the posts you wish to quote the full content of, and by highlighting and clicking ¨+quote¨ in the pop-up to quote partial comments.
You can add quotes from posts on different pages of the thread. You will know they have been added as a message will appear on screen like this:
newaddmultquo.jpg

Once you have selected them all, go to your text box at the bottom of the page.
You will see that a new button has appeared. Click ¨Insert quotes¨

insertquotesbutton.jpg

A pop-up box will appear, and will have all of the quotes you selected listed.
To remove a quote from the list, click ¨remove¨ to the right of that particular quote.
To change the order of the quotes, click and hold the three horizontal lines button, and drag the quotes up or down.
Once you are happy with the order of the quotes, you can click ¨Insert quotes¨
reviewquoteslist.jpg

The quotes will now appear in the text box.
Add your message(s) and click the blue ¨post reply¨ button underneath the box
mymultiquoresponse.jpg

They will appear like this; mymultiquoresponsepreview.jpg
