How to keep birds off ceiling fan?

I've got a ceiling fan in my room that my cockatiel loves to sit on. It's a bit of a problem because he poops on it and my bed below, which is both a pain to clean from the blades and from my blankets. The blades have also started to sag, much to my parents' displeasure. I won't take them off because the AC likes to be unreliable every summer, and I won't put a cage around the fan. Is there anything I could do to keep the birds off it? I've tried wrapping the blades in foil once, but that was useless.

Can you hang streamers from the ceiling down towards the fan? It is the space above the blades you need to make undesirable, and short streamers should do this.

Just make sure that whatever you do, it's not something he can get tangled in or get toes stuck. My first tiel almost died from getting tangled in a rope toy. Which I knew better but it was a toy from his owner who passed away. So I kept it. Luckily, we were home and were able to untangle him in time.

That is one of my greatest fears. I check my bird cameras several times a day for that very reason when im not home. Tangled in toys in general and rope perches.

I have always used only wood perches for my finches, and mum only uses wood or chain for her budgies.
We have never used any rope perching.
I have used thin rope for hanging perching and had to rescue a tiny finch with a toenail caught - traumatic for them and me.
That was why I originally suggested streamers, they tear easily.
