Hi!
my 3.5 month old cockatiel is regularly out of his cage when we are home pretty much all day except for when we're cooking/eating or leaving, but I'm just wondering how much actual flying would be ideal for him?
In the morning, he will get out the cage and do a few laps ("zoomies" ) around the house, but mostly enjoy being settled on our shoulders or table and playing/eating both inside and outside the cage. For 10-15 minutes maybe twice a day he'd get some time where I'm actively getting him to fly to me (step up training etc) but otherwise, he doesn't really fly much except for when he randomly decides to do laps. Is this level of flight activity adequate for cockatiels? I'm just wondering bc I've read that cockatiels can atrophy their muscles if they don't use it enough, etc etc...
