Recently got a new budgie. He is not really good at flying and he cannot hold on to the branches at night time, keep on falling off the branches when he sleep. I tried to put him in the cage and he got upset. How can i make the sleeping experience better. Here is where he currently sleep. I don't know how safe it is, But he seems to enjoy it.

A agree with the platform perch idea :)

Also, hang a toy or something in front of the platform so he can hide behind it like he is doing with the television. I think he would prefer that :)

I have a Conure but that's how he sleeps on his platform perch snuggled against his favorite toy.

What do you mean by "he keeps falling off" the branches? Is his ability to perch OK in the daytime? Do you have a nightlight for him? Budgies night vision is not the best. A small amount of light in a safe familiar cage is not only safest but best. Like it or not, it is safest.

Does he have another choice to sleep in a cage @DORIS123 ? Are his wings clipped, and that is why he can't fly well? Can he fly at all? I agree with Lori, he needs a cage for a safe spot to sleep.

The cage was delivered yesterday. But he passed away the same day. I think for my other budgie i will put him in the cage at night time, even though he seems to enjoy sleeping on the perch by the window to sleep. I noticed he is really scared of dark that's why he doesn't enjoy sleeping in the bird cage. The old birdcage is pretty small, and probably he had bad experience in it.

He doesn't fell off the branch in day time. But his flying ability is not that good. He had a hard time taking his wing back after he landed. I don't think his wing is clipped. But he was not in good health when he came home a few days ago. I took him to the vet and the vet said everything is fine expect for him being stressed. He passed away yesterday. He was such a sweet boy.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that he passed away! That is so sad. I like to provide a nightlight for mine to sleep with. They are so much happier with a small light in the room, and their cage half covered (only the top half).

Do you think is better to sleep in the cage for bird at night time. I don't think he is used to that. But i will try to put him in. I got a new vision cage for him.

Yes, I think so. Not only will it will keep him safe, I believe he will feel more secure in the long run. Try some millet to bribe him to get in the cage. Also, you can attach millet or put some in his cage to make it more attractive to him.
