How do you put a cue on a behaviour?

Mainly curious for things like recall. How and when do you implement a cue for them to fly to you?

I would assume saying it consistently before they come to you would work, but please correct me if I’m wrong!

It will depend on the behavior. Most of my training experience is with dogs, so I can't help much. But here is a good article that describes how to teach a parrot to recall:

If possible, it is a good idea to train your parrot to recall in multiple locations, including some spaces with high ceilings and longer distances to ensure he has fully developed the flight skills necessary to recall successfully in an emergency situation (like if he flies out of an open door and ends up in a tree).
