hormonal season is here, and my male bird (blue) has been acting up. he’ll follow around one of my female birds (kiwi) a lot. i try discouraging it/distracting him with step up training (although i might try teaching him a new trick), but he keeps bothering her throughout the day. she doesn’t seem interested most of the time either. i’m trying to put them to bed earlier now, but do you guys have any other advice on how to avoid breeding and having eggs?

If he’s pestering her too much and making her stressed, I would separate them. As for eggs, just boil them or replace with dummy eggs. No breeding necessary.

The only reason why any living thing exists on Earth is to live long enough to reproduce itself. Trying to eliminate reproductive behavior is a futile road. Instead just practice "birth" control with the eggs. Also, don't boil them and then put them back in the cage. Those cooked eggs will just rot and stink. Instead put the eggs in the refrigerator for 12 hours and the cold and frost free cycle will kill the embryo and dehydrate it and then it won't rot and smell. You can even use the dead eggs as dud replacements for new fertile eggs in the future.
