Today we're harvesting honey from our bees. Can I put honey on Glimmer's chop? It doesn't get fresher or more organic than this.

I always avoid honey (Burt’s never had any) as it’s very high in sugars which our birds don’t need and I think there may be a bacteria that can potentially be a problem but I’m jot certain so I’ll tag @Hankmacaw

Like @Shezbug says honey is very high (almost pure) sugar and sugar is not good for our birds. In addition, fungus is very prone to grow in honey - believe me you don't want a fungal infection in your bird. The only safe honey to feed a bird is honey that has been pastuerized.

Natural, fresh and organic do not mean anything is safe.

If I want to give my birds something sweet I like to microwave a FEW berries to make a berry juice and mix it in with lots of veggies

Do you know that you don’t have to microwave berries (or any other fruits) to get juice out of them?

We buy farm fresh honey all the time and have done for years. I hardly ever buy the honey they sell at the supermarket because it’s nearly impossible to find out if it’s real honey :(

I should have typed a longer answer but was rushed as i was dealing with a naughty bird yes unpasturised honey does contain botulism spores and can be fatal to human infants under the age of 12 months however it doesnt have a effect on people who are older.
What the effect on parrots i wouldnt know but wouldnt chance it.

Apparently after the age of 1 the digestive system is developed enough to remove the toxins that cause the botulism.

Botulism spores are not affected by the pasteurization process, which is why no honey is recommended to children under 1. Boiling for several minutes however is supposed to destroy it.

Regardless, I think pollen would be a better treat than honey :)

Doing more research, Avian Botulism is definitely a thing. While it affects waterfowl the worst (likely just due to the fact that they live in areas where spores flourish), it can affect all bird species.
