I've been quiet about this cos quite frankly we were hoping for better results.
On Tuesday I noticed Holly in the cage on her own during wing time. She seemed to be struggling to breathe so I rushed her to the vet's. She had pneumonia and it was bad enough for the vet to attempt a drain. That actually went well, she was breathing a lot easier. She stayed at the vet's for IV antibiotics and monitoring.
She was showing slow progress until yesterday when the vet phoned me. Should he intervene? Of course he should.
This afternoon Holly passed under sedation, there was nothing could be done. The vet has sent the liquid from her air sacs to the lab for analysis. He did say there was nothing visible in the liquid so it was probably not aspiration. He's also testing specifically for psittacosis.
I'm gutted. Silva is lost. What a wonderful little girl.
