Hi, my name's Rey! I'm a lifelong bird lover but a relatively new bird mom experiencing "first time owning a bird anxiety." I found this site through my over-worrying induced google searches and am excited to be here!

Welcome! I was also a huge worrier when I first brought home my boy! The first time he was out of his cage at home I just about panicked thinking I hadn't bird proofed properly and he'd get hurt. Lol, that feels like ages ago now. Feel free to ask any questions you have, or just for reassurance if you need it. And I'd love to hear more about your new baby!

Thank you all! Her name is Navi, I'm just assuming she's a girl for now but she still hasn't matured so might end up being a boy. She's around 4 months old and recently started to molt! I'm in the process of transitioning her to a pellet based diet (finally found one that she'll eat- roudybush), and am also introducing veggies with the goal of offering daily chop. Transitioning has been put on a temporary halt due to some health issues I've been having with her, but I'm trying to stay positive that we'll figure out the problems soon (I posted about them a couple days ago). Her favorite things include millet spray as a treat, perching on my phone/laptop to supervise what I'm doing, and jazz music. :)

I honestly think it could be 50/50 on sex, the cere color looks like this picture below. Females can have a lavender colored cere when they're not mature like my budgie is, and I'll know the sex for certain once they do mature.

Looks like a male to me too, this is Kiwi‘s cere when he was young (1 to 2 months I believe):

Edit: I made this picnic table and still have it, I might take new photos.

They might very well be a boy, the sex doesn't really matter to me. I've just been referring to my budgie as a girl, I have had mostly girl pets in the past so it's easier for the time being, but when my bird matures I'll know the sex for certain then since the cere color doesn't finalize until they're mature. I don't think I'm giving my bird an identity crisis over saying calling them a girl until they mature. I really don't want to debate the sex with people, I know they're very likely to be a boy and I'm not denying that. I have been extremely stressed about a health problem my bird is having, I didn't want to start debating about the sex of my budgie. I apologize if I'm coming off as rude, like I said I've just been very stressed out.

We don't mean to come off as rude or pushy, just commenting that we believe your bird is a male (I used to call Kiwi a she, and when he turned out to be a he, I still called him she for a month)

I love that pale blue body and white head. As you say, in a few months it should be obvious whether a girl or boy. In the meantime I hope you get to the bottom of what's causing her problems.
