Welcome to the Forum ! :fairy:

I have two little parrotlets. They are fantastic! I also have a plumhead parrot, 2 finches and my lovely hens.

Parrotlets are little sassy potato pants. I wouldn't want them any other way :)

Welcome!

Just a couple of things about the cage set-up... Do you know what bar spacing it is? It looks pretty wide for such a small bird. If it's too wide, there's a risk that John could get his head stuck through the bars and hurt himself. I would also provide some toys made out of softer material that he can chew. Plastic and hard wood aren't often that interesting to little birds because there's not much they can do to them. I would provide some softer, more shreddable toys: balsa, cactus, cardboard, palm, fingertraps, wicker are all more manageable for little beaks.

A couple of UK shops are
Scarletts Parrot Essentials - Toys, Cages, Stands and More!
Parrot Supplies | Parrot Shop | Parrot Accessories – Northern Parrots

I really like parrot perches, natural wood perches, parrot toys, safe parrot toy making parts, bird accessories, bird perches for toys but one of the people involved has been injured recently so I don't know what their current shipping times are. However, they're great and Karen put together a lovely toy selection for me when I had just got Leia and was working out her toy and material preferences.

Thank you Roger!
Hi Tka, yes I bought the cage because it said it was recommended for parrotlets but I agree with you the bars seem a bit wide. When I got him on Saturday I asked the lady where we got him about the width and she said it was ok but I will have to keep a close eye on it. I’ve got quite a few toys but like you said maybe some softer ones may be good. I’ll enclose another picture showing some of the toys 6ED2D91C-F370-4E41-8297-891789C5CC16.jpeg

There are a lot of super nice people on here.

We waded in with 2 blue front amazons (wild caught, DNA males) and knew NOTHING. They're doing well!

Wow and I feel like a new mum with my little parrotlet. I’ve only had him two days so it’s all really new to me. You were brave
