Hi, I’m new!!! I have already posted a few things about my new baby budgie Stevie. I’m from Queensland, Australia where budgies are of course native to..(not in my area but used to live where there were wild flocks). We have many beautiful birds in Australia and I am also lucky to have them frequent my front and back yard. I love watching birds in the wild and the ones that come to our house for some wild bird mix are just beautiful. Any pet birds that I have had in the past (lorikeet, king parrot, Cockatoo, Cockatiels to name a few) I have always made sure they are part of the family and rarely caged except to sleep at night….here are a few photos of our some of back yard birds, King Parrots, Crimson Wings, Lorikeets, & Sulphur Crested Cockatoos I can often get quite close to take photos but otherwise I have a good long range 0C50C8ED-FDE9-4CD4-B2C1-011B6ECC014D.jpeg 5A4ECF96-49BD-493E-BB19-13D727AD1903.jpeg 5C4841DC-78AF-48F9-8450-D57E3C5CD92E.jpeg 29E3B81F-F886-42D7-8730-1DAB533569F7.jpeg 7E725238-E745-4B72-AF8F-7395B81B53CE.jpeg 206BAFE3-DCB6-4471-8149-7C6A65D1C841.jpeg F40636C6-F52C-4055-9193-21C07BA56413.jpeg D2EE9CE2-3333-4F45-9455-41154FC2A184.jpeg 5736B645-3548-44FC-9736-52788E1DCA36.jpeg 7EF0A78E-E1B3-4940-9765-A58C33E0A08D.jpeg lense on my camera and waste lots of time taking photos of them, and just watching them….all so cheeky, especially the Lori’s & Cocky’s some of these were taken when we were in a drought and the birds were desperate for water and food. And of course I have included a photo of Stevie she’s just a bubba around 3-4 months old.

Wow, all of those birds are stunning! You are so lucky to live in an area where you get to see them up close in their native environment.

Cockatoos (sulphur crested) we just call the Cocky’s or Cockatoos…are a handful to own! They are incredible but challenging. They also do incredible damage to farms and can destroy entire crops of corn etc. but I love them anyway. I cared for a rescue one once which was a lot of fun but also extremely time consuming, but also rewarding.

:awww: Mom had hundreds of Corella a block away. My friend would feed the pink toos & some others a block away on his land.
Pinks are shy but the corellas are brazen though I enjoyed them!

I actually have but mostly larger parrots! I did have a budgie when I was 4 but that was way back in 1981!! I think my mum did most of the looking after with that one!!. I just remember he used to fly round the house all day and then land on my head! I’ve got a photo of it somewhere I should try and find it and post it! I grew up on a farm so lots of animals in general!!!
