Well, it's been some time since I joined an online bird keeping forum (the previous one was feathered flyer many years ago!) and I'm looking forward to reading the various posts and comments during the coming grey damp days 
I currently keep budgies, cockatiels, a rosella, a rock pebbler, a blue crowned conure, a californian quail cross, 6 finches, a quaker, and 4 kakarikis. I have just had a new aviary built outside, it's 18ft long x 6ft wide and just over 6ft high, it has a 3ft safety porch and also includes a separate area for one of my birds that has in the past shown cannibalistic tendencies!! It's very wet and windy so the sides are completely covered in stapled on opaque tarpaulin up to 4ft high with corrugated plastic sheets lengthways above this to the roof which is covered in the same opaque tarpaulin and opaque corrugated roofing sheets over the top. So it's nice and bright and the clear sheets around the top section mean they can sunbathe in comfort away from rain and wind whenever the sun appears! Nothing is ever 'complete' though is it, and some parts of the design may well change in due course. Until very recently my birds were all kept in indoor flights but now we have to convert that room to a bedsit room for my elderly mum who had a nasty fall and cannot manage stairs well any more, so the birds are now all housed outdoors. I've registered with DEFRA by the way to keep it all legal and above board. Nice to meet you all
