Miss Julip has a hernia now. We are not going to do anything for it as she has a fat plug sitting in the opening (xray). Worried if we shrink the plug it could allow organs to pass through.

Has anyone had this with their bird?

Julip is a roseifrons conure, 16 this year. She hasn’t slowed down and flutters around the bird room no problem.

Sweet Pea had supposed hernia, at that time the vet said there was nothing they could do for her. If you trust your vet then it’s ok , but at that with Sweet Pea, I wish I has 2bd opinion.

I’m sorry. But yes like humans, they’d have to stitch the muscle together. Major surgery and she’s already three years over life expectancy and has a bunch of other issues.
