Got a call from the vet. Interestingly, she hasn't been doing any of the behaviors I saw at home there. No wing flipping, toe tapping, motor dysfunction, etc. But she is breathing a little heavily. They don't think it's electrolyte imbalance from the furosemide as it's quite rare. They're a little worried it could be from her liver disease, so they're considering bumping up her meds. I will go to see her tomorrow, and from there we can decide if she's well enough to go home or not.

Curious it stopped, but if a seizure maybe she is now in the second phase where they disorieted? I am sure you vets know, hope your little one gets better. So glad she is recieving the best care from the vets and you, I'll keep her in my thoughts.

At the vet's for a visit. She is breathing hard, making small squeaking noises, unsteady. Wasn't interested in the snack I brought. Mostly just sitting still and closing her eyes. I am heartbroken. But it's probably time...

She's gone. The vet told me directly it's time. She failed every check I had written down for her today. She lost 2 more grams, down to 28, and that was with the tumor and her enlarged liver. She lost 2 more earlier this week. 4 grams total in just 7 days. Of course, as soon as they carried her back to start the sedation, she looked at me and even picked at the food I brought her for just a second... so I'm left wondering if what I did was right.

I'm heartbroken. That's three birds, each a year apart. I'm a horrible bird mom. I couldn't save any of them. They were so young. What am I doing wrong? :sad11:

I am so sorry for your loss. You did not fail her, keeping parrots is not een exact science sadly, we try our best. I totally understand blaming yourself, but I do not think you should. You tried so hard for her, sometimes we can't do more then that. Fly free Blanc
