Herbs like cilantro and parsley are perfect for small birds. Parsley is high in vitamin A and C, which makes it both healthy and delicious. The left over long stems make a fun, shreddable toy for small birds.

Love the info, thanks! Has anyone tried cranberry juice? My conures like it and grape watered down. They also like rice.

Some greens like parsley should be fed sparingly. They are high in oxalates. This has an effect of interfering with calcium absorption.

I thought only Ceylon cinnamon is safe for bird. You just put cinnamon powder. Just wondering

Does anyone use Herb Salad by Twin Peaks aviary? I keep in all the cages. Haven't seen any actually use it but have read good things.

This list was very informative and helpful, especially since I recently got an herb mixture to sprinkle on seeds and also put a little spices in rice/pasta.

What about fresh ginger, garlic, tumeric ... Instead of the powder? Should it be cooked or would raw be accepted/health? Or should I do my own dehydration to powder?

Garlic can be deadly to birds just the same as cats and dogs. Some people do feed it, but it's fed in a mixture and the birds may get a very tiny amount. I would hate to recommend garlic and say it's okay, then have something feed too much and kill their bird... so best to avoid.

Fresh ginger is fine.

Tumeric sounds like it's okay in moderation.

Correct: The other is not a true cinnamon. My understanding.
I have no idea of powder, unless it is labeled as such.

I never feed raw garlic to any of my guys. But I do cook with garlic. With that being said, ALL of my birds are food thieves. They will hunt you down for scraps.

I've use it when Rocky(bird in my avatar) was sick, I make my own herb type salad now.
