Hello everyone, I see the community here is helpfull and I'm hoping I can gain your aid to help my sick canary.
This whole thing started when my canary was almost done molting, he stopped being able to aim his landing when he flys. Then he started closing his eyes around the food bowl. He still eats well and drinks well, but then he laid in the bottom of the cage and he won't jump up. For the longest time, I thought he was exhausted from molting and the change in weather. I did not think it was air sac mites because he was still singing and there was no whistle or anything wrong with his voice. I kept trying to find out what was wrong with him until one day finally decided to grab him and inspect him and so I heard a wheezing sound coming from him. I instantly went out and got him iverlux to treat his air sac mites. after 4 days he was still doing badly so I took him to the vet, the doctor was really not much help and the only thing I got from her was broad-spectrum antibiotics. It's covid so I couldn't go in with them and the doctor was really bum she just wanted to get things over with. She said that it doesn't look like he has a respiratory infection and she did a fecal sample and came out negative, meaning he doesn't have any parasites. Now it's 5 days in with the antibiotics and my bird is not getting better. I don't know what's wrong with him and I can't seem to figure it out. The female in the same cage with him was diagnosed with upper respiratory infections but she is active and doing really well. Any advice on what's happening i would very much appreciate it. I know he has a secondary infection but what could help me narrow things down to either viral or protozoan and maybe some stuff bacterium that's not dying with the antibiotics.
